C. Walter Ebell

Mr. Ebell joined Old Harbor Native Corporation as its Chief Executive Officer in January 2006. He also serves as CEO of Big Creek Company, which owns and operates the Grande Denali Lodge and Denali Bluffs Hotel at Denali Park, Alaska, and Kodiak-Kenai Cable Company, which developed, owns and operates the Kodiak Kenai Fiber Link Project, a submarine fiber optic cable system connecting Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak Island.

Prior to joining OHNC, Mr. Ebell was engaged in the private practice of law for twenty-eight years. As a principal in Jamin, Ebell, et al., he emphasized business, maritime and real estate development matters in his practice and served as OHNC’s general counsel. He had considerable experience advocating for Native Alaskan interests with the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce and Interior and Congress in petroleum and land-related matters. In addition, he represented clients in numerous complex business contract negotiations, maritime claims and related litigation. He was given the highest rating possible for an attorney by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, and is admitted to practice in Alaska, Oregon and Washington State and federal courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Ebell graduated from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College, where he was selected for law review and co-authored an article entitled “Public Interest Lobbying and the Tax Reform Act of 1976.” Prior to attending law school, he graduated from Oregon State University, received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served as a company commanding officer, executive officer and platoon commander with the 1st and 3rd Tank Battalions, FMF.
