Melissa Berns
Melissa M. Berns joined Old Harbor Native Corporation in 2003 as the Office Manager and Shareholders Relations Administrator at Old Harbor Office. She works closely with shareholders to address their needs and concerns.
Melissa manages and coordinates the Old Harbor Scholarship Foundation which provides financial support to shareholders, lineal descendants and their dependents in post-secondary education. She also provides support to Cape Barnabus, Inc. the first Community Quota Entity in the State of Alaska.
Melissa is further involved with the community of Old Harbor by serving on the Tribal Council, School Board, coordinator and teacher for the Nuniaq Dancers and Volleyball Coach. She also volunteers her time with Old Harbor USA Wrestlers, Three Saint Orthodox Sisterhood, Village Response Team, Old Harbor School, and Annual Village Clean Up.
Prior to joining OHNC, Ms. Berns worked for the Sitkalidak Lodge in Old Harbor as lead Chef and the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association as the Community Wellness Advocate.
