George Inga, Sr.

George has served as a Director of Old Harbor Native Corporation from its inception in 1971 through 1977, and then again from 1987 to the present. The wisdom of George Inga, as an elder for 80+ years, provides an invaluable resource for the Old Harbor community and Board of Directors. George serves the corporation on committees and as an active member of subsidiary boards.

George Inga, Sr. is retired commercial fisherman. Twice he has been nominated for the prestigious Elder of the Year Award at the Alaska Federation of Natives, and he has received numerous regional recognitions including the Kodiak Island Awakening Bear Cultural Barer Award for lending his knowledge to anthropologist, archeologist and ethnographers.

George Inga, Sr. is an exciting example of living heritage. He is intimately involved in the operation of a modern and sophisticated business corporation while passing on our native culture and heritage. He is involved in the education of 5 generations of his own family and our Alutiiq community.
